We are looking for a Data Protection Officer (DPO) to join Sergel Group in a permanent role
Sergel is a leading credit management service provider with operations across the Nordics from six different offices. We offer services throughout the entire credit life cycle and focus on customers in transaction-intensive industries such as communication, utilities, banking, and finance. Sergel was founded in 1988 and has around 200 employees and 850 customers.
A responsible Nordic-wide role in data protection
As the Group-level DPO, you will oversee data protection compliance across the Sergel Group and ensure that regulatory requirements are effectively implemented in our business operations. You will also support and advise personnel on a wide range of data protection-related matters. In addition to data protection, your responsibilities will include monitoring AML, KYC, and sanctions-related regulation, as well as maintaining and updating internal guidelines and policies in these areas. A key part of your role is ensuring that our employees’ knowledge of data protection, AML, KYC, and sanctions remains up to date through regular training.
This is a truly Nordic, cross-organizational role in which you will play an important part in ensuring regulatory compliance across the Group. You will work closely with colleagues throughout our Nordic organizations (Finland, Sweden, Denmark, and Norway), and particularly with the Swedish Legal & Compliance team. Your workplace will be in Helsinki, and you will report to the Chief Legal & Compliance Officer based in Sweden.
As our previous long-term DPO has moved on outside the organization, we hope you will be able to start as soon as possible. However, the starting date can be agreed based on your situation.
What kind of DPO are we looking for?
You hold a degree in law and have at least three years of experience in data protection, preferably in a DPO role. You have strong expertise in data protection legislation and the ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical, day-to-day operations. Experience with AML, KYC, and/or sanctions-related regulation is considered an asset but is not required. We already have well-established processes in place, and you will have the opportunity to further develop these as part of your role. As this role involves close collaboration across all Nordic organizations, fluency in both Finnish and English is essential.
We expect you to have
A Master of Laws degree (LL.M.)
At least three years of experience in data protection, with the ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical operations
The ability to manage complex entities, a business-oriented and results-driven mindset, and strong collaboration skills
Proficiency in Finnish and English, both written and spoken
We also value
Experience with AML, KYC, and/or sanctions-related regulation
A background in an international and/or Nordic organization
Proficiency in Swedish
What we offer you
“We care” describes how we work and how we treat the people around us. We aim to create an environment where everyone can succeed as themselves through their commitment and expertise. Our teams consist of people from diverse backgrounds, which enriches our everyday work.
A responsible and independent role where you can take your expertise to the next level. You will play a key role in ensuring business compliance while contributing to the continuous development of our operations, both now and in the future.
A genuinely international working environment, with close day-to-day collaboration across our Nordic organizations. We have adopted agile and modern ways of working, enabling smooth cooperation with colleagues in different countries without the need for extensive travel.
Flexible ways of working that adapt to your preferences. You can influence how your working hours are scheduled, and we value your time outside of work: evening work is not part of our culture. Your primary workplace will be in Helsinki, where we expect you to work on-site approximately 60 % of the time. You will nevertheless work closely with all Nordic organizations, particularly Sweden.
A competitive salary and comprehensive benefits, including lunch, sports, culture, and mobile phone benefits, comprehensive work ability insurance, and extensive occupational healthcare services.
